4)  I Use AOL and get an error message when trying to listen

AOL 6.0 and above uses their own streaming player. We recommend you disable AOL's streaming player and use Windows Media Player or Winamp.

Instructions:
Find your "settings" it should be on your AOL toolbar,
look for "multimedia" under the "by category tab".
Click "Multimedia" again,
uncheck the box that says "Use AOL media player for supported file types",
click "save".

You may also need to reset Windows Media Player to play the audio file types.

Instructions:
Open Windows Media Player,
click the "Tools" menu,
then select "Options".
Choose the "File Types" tab and
click the "select all" button, then click "Apply".
Now try the audio link again on the website's listen page.

5)  I have a compatible media player but I still can't listen

Many places such as office buildings, libraries and schools have firewalls which block streaming media from playing through their server.

If you are getting a specific error message, the Windows Media website can usually help resolve these errors. Simply look up the error code on their website for information on how to resolve it.

6) Why is this show not available as a Podcast?

We have had several requests for Podcasts and although we realize this is a very popular medium, most of the artists do not wish their live performances to be downloadable.

Because these are live recordings with no "fixes" to the music and/or playing of the artists, we must respect their wishes and offer the shows in streaming format only.

We feel very privileged that all of these great artists are allowing us to record their performances so we can share them with you, so we hope that even though we can not offer downloadable shows, you will still continue to enjoy these unique performances.

7)  Can I download the shows and/or share them on
Kazaa, Torrents or other file sharing networks?

The artists on Cape Breton Live agree to be recorded on the condition that their live performance will NOT be downloadable. For this reason our shows run off a streaming server which does not allow downloading. So unless you want to be responsible for spoiling it for everyone... we request that you please respect the musicians and copyright laws and enjoy the shows without trying to save them.

This also applies to using any music from Cape Breton Live in a YouTube video without prior written consent.
